As a result, automotive sales from 2020 to 2022 recorded a significant decrease compared to pre-COVID-19 levels, and the automotive industry expects the exceptional phenomenon of rapidly rising prices for new car sales to conclude by 2023.

According to the trends in global automotive sales (based on OICA: International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers), the figures were as follows: 91.24 million units in '19, 78.78 million units in '20, 82.75 million units in '21, and 81.62 million units in '22. Sales from January to September '23 increased by approximately 6 million units compared to the previous year, suggesting a recovery to pre-COVID-19 levels of around 90 million units in 2023.

Based on projections derived from economic growth forecasts from major institutions, population demographics, and automotive penetration rates, the OICA estimates that global automotive sales in 2024 will reach approximately 92.2 million units, representing a growth of around 2.4%.
